Format of a team match: A six-set match of two womens, two mens, followed by two mixed doubles sets of no-ad 6-game sets. One point is awarded for winning each category (1 for women's, 1 for men's, 1 for mixed) for a maximum of 3 points.
The match begins with a spin of the racquet to determine the home team who may select serve or side. The opponent has the remaining option. Substitutions are allowed at any point in the match. Players may not re-enter a set that he/she has left. The remaining player after the substitution may not change either side or serving order. Change ends on odd games. If set reaches 6-6 games, the tie shall be broken by a 13-point tiebreaker known as the Coman procedure.

How to play a 13-point tiebreaker: (when games are 6-all in a no-ad set)

The first team to reach 7 points wins, with no 2-point margin. The player whose turn it is to serve shall serve the first point from the deuce court; after the first point, the players shall change ends and the following two points shall be served by the opponent(s) (the player of the opposing team due to serve next) starting from the ad court; after this, each player/team shall serve alternately for two consecutive points (starting with the ad court), changing ends after every four points, until the end of the tiebreak game.

How to play a 13-point tiebreak (when sets are split 1-1 in the category)

Play the Coman tiebreak procedure with the first team to reach 7 points with a 2 point margin.

For mixed, in the case of split sets, the tiebreaker is considered a third set, requiring a spin of the racquet for first server. (The captain has designated a 1st & 2nd team in advance.)  Players cannot play in both mixed doubles sets. The 2nd team will play the 13-point tiebreaker.

In case of rain on match day, the manager will advise the Captains by E-mail and/or phone by 4:30 p.m. to cancel the matches.Captains should confirm their makeup for the next Thursday.  Makeup matches are to be played within two weeks of the rainout. Record the exact score, server and position to resume at that point. A point played stays.

The team total point count for the regular season determines standings for entering the Playoffs. In case of a tie, it will be broken in favor of the team winning in head-to-head competition.

The mission of the GVCC Corporate Tennis League is to provide recreational tennis competition through weekly scheduled team matches for the Great Valley Corporate Center community in a congenial, sportsmanlike atmosphere.
