Wyeth Warriors Take the Title for '09
T'was a great night for tennis, and all through the courts,
The players were hustling with shots of all sorts.
They came short-handed, with one guy, but played valiantly in the women's and mixed to grab the GVCC Corporate Tennis League trophy in the final match.  Wyeth was undefeated the whole season.
Captain Kallie Speller brought sidekick co-captain Janeese Carter and Keith White to play the six-set doubles match against Sungard Power Points in the last round of a three-week playoffs. Defaulting the men's, they played the mixed, won it in a tie-breaker, and followed with strong-handed women's play against Nancy and Jenn, Rob, Dave and Tim.
The lefty Kallie enjoyed down-the-line drives, forcing her opponents to be on-garde.
Sungard's captain, Mark Huber has been sidelined with a back injury and was an avid spectator along with Golden Retriever Mattie.
Lockheed Martin edged out regular season 2nd place Sungard in defeating Vanguard Line Managers 2-1, securing the Finalist trophy. Third place went to Sungard and fourth to Vanguard Line Managers.

SEI Smashers Win B Flight

Meanwhile in the B Flight final, SAP America came short-handed as well. They lacked a man, so they too played women's doubles and mixed doubles against SEI Smashers, their undaunted competitors.  Justin Zochowski's reliable teammates came through, winning the mixed doubles in a tiebreak, taking home the Winner trophy for Flight B. SAP was finalist, Vanguard Volleyers placed third and PBP Racketeers ended fourth in the tourney.

B Middle Bracket Tourney:
GVSD Net Hawks, captained by rookie Dick Schoeninger took the title against Vanguard Double Jeopardy.
B Lower Bracket Tourney: Vanguard Shipwrecks outlasted the GSK B team in a tiebreak (11-9) in the mixed to take the match.
